"This year marks the 100th anniversary of
Gideon Bible placement in hotels. Last year alone, Gideons distributed more than 1.1 million Bibles in the United States. . . and almost another 700,000 around the world. The vast majority of these Bibles went to hotels and motels, where Gideons personally placed them in each and every room."
This judge would disagree as he has stopped them at this school.
ReplyDeleteSome folks are either ignorant, deceitful, or just plain stupid.
ReplyDeleteA quote from that article: "Distribution of Bibles is a religious activity without a secular purpose'' and amounts to school board promotion of Christianity, U.S. District Judge Carl J. Barbier ruled. That violates the First Amendment's separation of church and state, he wrote.
First, is not the bible also of historical importance? Can it not be used to learn how to read?
Second, the term "separation of church and state" is not in the First Amendment. It's not even in the Constitution! Not to mention that the term was used in regards to keeping the state OUT of the church, not the other way around.
I'm tired of the same old mantra from these people!
Amen.
